Molecular Imaging Chemistry Laboratory (MICL)

Last week, 3 members of the MICL group went to Nantes in France to take part in the International Symposium on Radiopharmaceutical Sciences (iSRS). Prof Franklin Aigbirhio, Dr Stephen Thompson and PhD candidate Simon Zientek were all in attendance, with Stephen and Simon both presenting posters. All three had a great time and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Nantes as well as numerous fantastic talks on various aspects of radiochemistry and surrounding areas.

Simon was able to obtain travel grants from his college (Churchill) and the Society of Radiopharmaceutical Sciences and presented his poster, "Radiochemical synthesis and automation of an 18F radiolabelled oligonucleotide for PET imaging of miRNA-223 in relation to neuroinflammation". Stephen was grateful to receive funding from both the Royal Society of Chemistry and Alzheimer Research East Network Centre and presented his poster, "Preparation, characterization and radiolabelling of multivalent ligands towards positron emission tomography imaging of oligomeric forms of misfolded proteins involved in neurodegenerative diseases".
