Jieyu completed her BSc degree in Chemistry from University of Rochester in the United States before doing her MRes at Imperial College London in Bioimaging Sciences. Her master project focused on the radiosynthesis of 18F labelled carnitine analogues, which are presumably a metabolite of [18F]fluoropivalate, a potential tracer for imaging brain tumour. She is currently a graduate student in Professor Aigbirhio's group, dedicated to the synthesis and development of PET radiotracers for imaging ACE2 and astrocytes.
