Dr Matthew Hird


Matthew obtained his BSc in Chemistry in 2009 and MSc in Medicinal Chemistry in 2010 at the University of Surrey (UK). He then moved to Aston University to complete his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry in 2014 under the supervision of Dr Daniel Rathbone, working on antimicrobial surfaces. He then worked as a Chemist at Pharmaron (Formerly known as Quotient bioresearch) working on GMP synthesis of [14C] labelled pharmaceuticals.

Matthew joined the MICL in 2017, under supervision of Prof. Franklin I. Aigbirhio where he works on the development of novel PET radiotracers for imaging Translocator proteins in conjunction with GE healthcare.
